The Internet Folk Radio List (TIFRL) is a free database of folk, singer-songwriter, and acoustic radio programs.
We do not wish to impinge on anyone's privacy or contribute to spam and other 'Net abuse. If you know of data in TIFRL that should not be included, please contact us (see below) and we will immediately remove it.
TIFRL data have been contributed by a variety of individuals and/or obtained from publicly available resources. TIFRL began life as a text file containing a few dozen programs. It was subsequently turned into a genuine database and has grown to include 572 listings. The core data were compiled by Jeremy Butler and the staff of All Things Acoustic. They've been augmented by singer-songwriter Diane Zeigler and updated by many hosts, program directors, and folk-radio enthusiasts.
We initially thought that TIFRL would be used by radio listeners trying to find folk stations. While this is one use of its data, it is more commonly used by musicians and labels to distribute marketing materials and CDs. Consequently, if you do not wish to receive marketing materials, contact us (see below) and we will remove your data from TIFRL.
TIFRL may be browsed or searched here online or it may be downloaded in tab-delimited format (suitable for importing into spreadsheet and database programs). It may subsequently be used for mass mail or email distribution. TIFRL has always been available for free, with the proviso that it may not be duplicated and sold. In 2005 we formalized this by publishing it under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License.

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user. TIFRL uses cookies to facilitate the submission of data. Our cookies are not tracked by any organization (i.e., a spyware company) other than TIFRL.
Like most standard Web site servers we use log files to track usage of TIFRL. This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.
IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.
Normally, TIFRL does not send email to people listed on it. The exception to this is when we are checking the validity of TIFRL data. To opt-out of receving any notices from TIFRL, individuals should contact us (see below) and have their email information or their entire listing removed.
